you know.. that meme with a dog that is doing things but has no idea what it's doing.
have you seen it?
well, we sorta, kinda feel like that.
for a while we've been talking about starting a container garden to grow our own veggies and have been collecting plastic containers over the months.
but we're afraid this little project of ours will be an epic fail. {it doesn't help that i'm a repeat offender when it comes to killing plants and flowers around here...}
but i guess we won't get anywhere until we try.
any pointers or tips on container gardening?
we'd love to know!
hope you enjoyed your weekend.
ours was relaxing.
mine was actually filled with lots of lifetime movies.
5 straight. yes. it's totally possible if you put your mind to it. ;)
xoxo,
jane

I keep a container garden on our little balcony and I kill most of it, but I'm getting better :) I have learned to use a good fertilizer and, in our case, be very careful on the super sunny days. Our garden is in full sun from noon to night =\
ReplyDeleteEli loves going out in the morning for fresh strawberries. It's well worth the troubles (and the spiders lol)
Have fun planning your garden =D
Fresh strawberries sound delicious! But.. spiders! Hmm... I didn't factor in insects and buggies! Eep! ;)
DeleteOh really cute pretty cute plants!
ReplyDeleteReally cute...
xoxo
Thank you~!
DeleteI'm also starting a container garden, so we're in it together lol! There are a lot of great sites out there, google has been my BFF. One thing I've started is a little inventory notebook that lists all my plants and their different needs (water twice daily, lots of sun/partial sun, fertilize twice a month, ect). Have fun! There's such a sense of calm knowing exactly where your food comes from :D
ReplyDeleteGreat tip! Definitely will start an inventory notebook (I love getting new notebooks anyway.. ha!)
DeleteI haven't seen that meme! BUT I LOVE IT NOW! And this container garden thing sounds interesting, I have never heard of this. Versions of it, yes, but not quite this.

Isn't the meme series super adorable :) I am hoping that at least one of the veggies we pick survives... and we actually get to eat it..!
DeleteI wish I had information on container garden, I should start researching because I plan on having my own organic garden in the future. You will never know until you try, I'm sure it will turn out great! xx
ReplyDeleteWe'll start the researching journey together :) Your future organic garden sounds amazing~
DeleteI don't even know what a container garden is. But...you should give it a go anyway without worrying that it will fail.
ReplyDeleteYahoo! Now that's a great tip! :)
DeleteI'm terrible with plants too! Even managed to kill a cactus once.
ReplyDeleteHope you have fun starting out your garden, you're right on - you never try you never know.
Oh hay! I did as well! We should belong in a special club together! I think it takes skill to actually kill a cactus... :)
DeleteThis looks like an interesting project. I did grow some parsley and some florals in a pot that started from seeds. They thrived but died when I went on vacation. I'm not really a plant person but you'll be surprised once you try. The joy of seeing them bloom and grow each day is totally worth it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this... but oh man... I didn't think about vacation as well! Hmm~~ another thing to consider... ;)
DeleteVery cute plants!! Hahaha :]
ReplyDelete:) thank you~~
DeleteOh, I'm a terrible gardener, but it hasn't stopped me from trying. We usually stick with herbs, just because they are pretty easy. This year I think we are going to try growing tomatoes again. We've never had much luck in the past, so I've got my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI would love some delicious tomatoes! I've been going through a list of things I want to grow.. and it's kinda getting to be long... I need to be realistic! :) I'll keep my fingers cross as well!
DeleteThis is so cute and fun! I've been meaning to start one too. Maybe in the spring!
ReplyDeleteYay! That would be great!
DeleteI am so terrible at gardening. Seriously, every plant I own dies a quick and horrible death. And last spring I had these weird alien plants growing in my garden. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from!

I can so relate to you! :) Alien plants!! Oh dear! :)
DeleteYay for starting a garden! We've always wanted an herb garden. Guess my advice is to make sure you know how much sunlight and water they need, and stick to that. Maybe some in bright sun, others in shade, etc.
ReplyDeleteSunlight - check! Water - check! Thanks so much, Lisa! :)
Deletehay, new follower your blog is very nice and the flower are pretty
ReplyDeletefollow back, if you like ;) andy
Thanks so much!
DeleteHow neat! My fiance and I have been thinking about doing this for a while, but don't really have the tiem to keep it up. One day...one day I'll own a whole garden. haha...*wishful thinking*
ReplyDeleteAhh~ a whole garden is our wishful thinking as well!
DeleteI've dreamed of having my own vegetable garden too and have been known to be a serial plant killer.-Jess L
ReplyDeleteI'll let you know how mine goes.. hopefully I can say "If I can do it.. you can, too!" :)
DeleteI love the idea of growing things but to be honest I've never bothered to try! Good luck with yours, keep us updated with how it goes.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Looking forward to trying this and sharing!
DeleteCracking up at the meme! I have no doubt that your container garden will be beautiful! :)
ReplyDelete5 Lifetime movies? In a row?
Thanks~~ yes... 5 Lifetimes movies.. in a row..! 10 hours. I know.. it's kinda outrageous isn't it! :)
Deletehow fun!!! i would love to know what tips you gather - our container plants ALWAYS die :(
ReplyDeleteah! i wonder if ours will end up having the same fate! D:
