we're going to start a little vegetable container garden, but that meme keeps popping up in our heads...

you know.. that meme with a dog that is doing things but has no idea what it's doing.
have you seen it?

well, we sorta, kinda feel like that.
for a while we've been talking about starting a container garden to grow our own veggies and have been collecting plastic containers over the months.
but we're afraid this little project of ours will be an epic fail. {it doesn't help that i'm a repeat offender when it comes to killing plants and flowers around here...}
but i guess we won't get anywhere until we try.

any pointers or tips on container gardening?
we'd love to know!

hope you enjoyed your weekend.
ours was relaxing.
mine was actually filled with lots of lifetime movies.
5 straight. yes. it's totally possible if you put your mind to it. ;)

xoxo,
jane

  1. I keep a container garden on our little balcony and I kill most of it, but I'm getting better :) I have learned to use a good fertilizer and, in our case, be very careful on the super sunny days. Our garden is in full sun from noon to night =\

Eli loves going out in the morning for fresh strawberries. It's well worth the troubles (and the spiders lol)

Have fun planning your garden =D

  3. I'm also starting a container garden, so we're in it together lol! There are a lot of great sites out there, google has been my BFF. One thing I've started is a little inventory notebook that lists all my plants and their different needs (water twice daily, lots of sun/partial sun, fertilize twice a month, ect). Have fun! There's such a sense of calm knowing exactly where your food comes from :D

  4. I haven't seen that meme! BUT I LOVE IT NOW! And this container garden thing sounds interesting, I have never heard of this. Versions of it, yes, but not quite this.

    1. Isn't the meme series super adorable :) I am hoping that at least one of the veggies we pick survives... and we actually get to eat it..!

  6. I don't even know what a container garden is. But...you should give it a go anyway without worrying that it will fail.

    1. Oh hay! I did as well! We should belong in a special club together! I think it takes skill to actually kill a cactus... :)

  8. This looks like an interesting project. I did grow some parsley and some florals in a pot that started from seeds. They thrived but died when I went on vacation. I'm not really a plant person but you'll be surprised once you try. The joy of seeing them bloom and grow each day is totally worth it.

  9. Oh, I'm a terrible gardener, but it hasn't stopped me from trying. We usually stick with herbs, just because they are pretty easy. This year I think we are going to try growing tomatoes again. We've never had much luck in the past, so I've got my fingers crossed.

  11. I am so terrible at gardening. Seriously, every plant I own dies a quick and horrible death. And last spring I had these weird alien plants growing in my garden. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from!

  12. Yay for starting a garden! We've always wanted an herb garden. Guess my advice is to make sure you know how much sunlight and water they need, and stick to that. Maybe some in bright sun, others in shade, etc.
