"oh i know what you have. you have something called the case of life."

aren't girlfriends awesome? you know the kind of girlfriends who don't pass judgement, who really know exactly what you're thinking and feeling and be able to relate to you even if they don't?

i have a girlfriend like that. and we have the best conversations. sometimes they're conversations we already had {yes, we like to repeat happy moments together}, others are just random venting sessions, but most are just nonstop laughing chatter. oh and there are times when she plays doctor, too.

every time something is making me nervous or anxious i call her. and we talk it out until i finally figure out what's been making me jittery. but one time i talked and talked and was still stumped until she said to me, "oh i know what you have. you have something called the case of life."

i literally laughed out loud because it was so true. i was just worried about life.

it's funny how i try to enjoy the moment, the present, the now, but then i remember that we have the whole future ahead of us and realize how much i need to be doing now to prepare. retirement, savings, asset building, oh my. and all this sometimes scares the living daylights out of me.

life can be so exciting and yet other times life seems so uncertain and worrisome.

the case of life. yeah. it's the case of life.

  1. this post made me smile, it immediately brought my best friend to mind. our relationship wasn't always this good of course, those first few years we met, we got close very quickly but were also full of our own teenager insecurities that made our friendship rocky and a bit on and off (especially when I started dating her older brother... hahah!) . over the years though, we've become friends that know that no matter what, we won't judge each other and are always there to offer listening ears and hugs. it's amazing and I am so thankful for her.

  3. I can totally relate about the worrisome of the future. I just thought about this not too long ago. It is difficult to pretend those days are still far away (in reality it is not). How nice you have a girlfriend to be there for you. All of mine are so far away and the distance and different life responsibilities make it worse. My husband is unfortunately my only girl friend in this country too...haha.

    1. it seriously is not that far away. i was reading an article on how much $$$ people should be savings for their retirement and broke it down to age - how much $$ if you're in your twenties, thirties and so on. it's mind boggling. so cute how your husband plays the role of girlfriend too :) that's actually i think really important! yangkyu is like that as well. hehe.

  6. Jane, you're not the only one that feels that way! I both enjoy and worry about things too. Life is something! Hold onto your friend! She sounds amazing and is a true treasure. Friends like that are very hard to find nowadays. You are so lucky. Hope you're having a great day.

  9. I think everyone here can relate to your 'case of life'
situation. We have so much going on, so much too
worry and so much to carry. But I guess it's the
best to enjoy life and be positive about it c: because
'yolo'... althought I don't like the term 'yolo' as some
people really making decisions because of it...

Don't worry Jane you are not alone c: and it's great
to have such friends like yours ^_^

  11. The case of life always gets my friends and I. It's great to have girlfriends because if I didn't have them, I think I'd do insane on my own.

  12. Oh gosh, I always get hit with the case of life, too darling! lol! Ahh, yes, what would life be without those types of girlfriends? I'm so thankful to have them and don't know what I would be without them. Especially during those times when you're freaking out about something...they are there to konk you on the head and bring you back down to earth and make your perspective on life a bit better :)

  19. I know what you mean! It's so important to have friends that are non-judgmental and will take the time to listen to you, even though you know they are busy too. I also have a friend like that, my bestie. We've known each other since middle school and she's going to be my maid of honor for my wedding that's coming up very soon! Her goal is to move to Japan by early next year for a new career, and I selfishly want her to stay but I also know how hard she's been working towards this goal and how much it would mean to her. I'll be sad when I won't be able to meet up with her for coffee on a week night "just because," but that's life too.

  20. Ah, "the case of life". We all seem to have it, and it's never the same or as amazing as others' lives appear to be. I just love that it isn't boring and that it seems to never get old. Except for me: I'm getting old.

I hope you three are having a great weekend!-Jess L
